Treatment Plant Tours
A ninety-minute guided walking tour provides a fascinating introduction to today's high-tech wastewater industry. Tours are especially popular with school groups, civic organizations and children. Visitors to the treatment plant will see:
- What wastewater looks like before, during and after treatment
- A portion of our more than two miles of underground tunnels
- Gigantic tanks that hold as much as two million gallons of wastewater
- Our plant's computerized control center, and
- A bird's eye view of the 2,400 acres of natural wetlands, grasslands, riparian forest and farmlands surrounding our plant.
Specialized tours are available for industrial customers or wastewater technical professionals.
Groups tours are given on Thursdays or Fridays by appointment, with starting time between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Individuals wishing to visit our plant may join a scheduled group tour. Electric carts are available to accommodate the disabled. School and youth groups please note that parental consent is required for minors. For safety reasons, children under eight years of age may not tour the plant.
